3 Roots Nature School
A nature-based school is an educational environment where learning unfolds through meaningful experiences in the natural world. Rather than being confined to four walls, children engage with the rhythms of the earth—playing, exploring, and discovering in forests, fields, and gardens.
The curriculum is guided by seasonal changes, sensory-rich environments, and emergent learning opportunities, all of which support whole-child development. At the heart of our approach is mindfulness—the practice of being present, curious, and kind. Through mindful routines like breathing exercises, nature journaling, and quiet observation, children learn to attune to their inner world while also becoming more aware of their environment and peers. We recognize that every child is unique, and that some children experience the world more intensely.
Our educators are trained in co regulation, the gentle, responsive process of helping children calm and center their nervous systems by staying grounded themselves. This approach is especially supportive for children with sensory processing differences, offering them a safe, attuned space where their sensitivities are seen as strengths. Nature itself is a powerful regulator—offering textures, sounds, and rhythms that soothe and stimulate in balanced, organic ways. By weaving together sensory experiences, compassionate guidance, and mindful presence, our school creates a nurturing environment where all children can thrive—body, mind, and spirit.
