    Key Burns, LCMHCA, PhD Candidate in Depth Psychology

    Key Burns is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate with Peak Professional Group who brings a uniquely integrative, compassionate approach to therapy. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Depth Psychology at Pacifica University, where she studies the unconscious, symbolic, and archetypal dimensions of the psyche — helping clients access deeper meaning, insight, and personal growth.

    Key’s therapeutic orientation includes psychodynamic work, which means she helps clients uncover patterns, emotional motivations, and early life influences (some of them outside of conscious awareness) that shape current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By exploring those deeper roots — in a safe, empathetic environment — clients often gain greater self-understanding and earn more freedom from repeating unhelpful patterns.

    In addition to psychodynamic therapy, Key integrates a range of body-based modalities, each aimed at helping regulate the nervous system, access inner resources, and support healing:

    Somatic Experiencing®: A body-focused therapy that helps resolve trauma by tuning into physical sensations and discharge of stress that may be “stuck” in the body.

    Hypnosis certification: Using trance or guided imagery to help calm the mind, access deeper awareness, and facilitate change (e.g. for stress, confidence, habit change).

    Reiki Master: As a Reiki Master, Key is trained in an energy healing practice that channels subtle energy to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

    HeartMath Certified: HeartMath tools focus on regulating heart rhythm coherence and helping the client’s physiology align in a way that enhances emotional resilience, lowers stress, and improves clarity and calm.

    Key also uses more “talk-based” or cognitive-behavioral tools (like neuroscience-informed CBT, TF-CBT, play therapy) and trauma-focused modalities (EMDR) in sessions.

    Clients working with Key often describe leaving sessions with a deeper sense of patience and compassion for themselves, greater clarity about where they want change, and practical tools to continue their growth between sessions. Key emphasizes homework/practice and inner awareness, always holding space so clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Walk-and-Talk Therapy

Therapy in motion. Rooted in nature.

Step outside the four walls of traditional counseling and into a healing dialogue with nature. Walk-and-talk therapy blends the grounding effects of movement with the healing presence of the natural world. As we walk side by side along wooded trails, open meadows, or in the labyrinth, you’ll have space to speak freely, reflect deeply, and connect with your inner wisdom.

This modality is ideal for those navigating:

  • Stress, anxiety, or burnout

  • Life transitions or loss

  • Feeling stuck or disconnected

  • A desire for more embodied healing

Walking gently regulates the nervous system and helps you access new perspectives—while the farm provides a calm, nurturing backdrop.

HeartMath® Coaching

HeartMath is a research-based system that teaches you how to connect your heart and brain for emotional clarity, resilience, and ease. Through simple, powerful techniques and optional biofeedback tools, you’ll learn to shift from stress to calm and build coherence in both mind and body.

In our sessions, you’ll explore how to:

  • Build emotional strength and awareness

  • Improve focus and decision-making

  • Align with your heart’s intelligence

Each session is held in nature, where the farm’s beauty amplifies your capacity for presence, insight, and renewal.

Farm Animal Therapy

Connection, comfort, and calm through the wisdom of animals.

At Keys to Growth, our farm animals are more than companions—they’re gentle teachers in presence, regulation, and unconditional connection. Farm animal therapy invites you to slow down, soften, and attune to the rhythm of life through mindful interaction with our animals.

Whether it’s feeding goats, watching chickens roam, or simply sharing space with a calm and curious being, animal-assisted sessions offer powerful support for:

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Emotional grounding

  • Rebuilding trust and connection

  • Reducing anxiety and overwhelm

Animals communicate through energy and body language. They respond to who we are, not what we say—which makes them intuitive mirrors for emotional states and ideal partners in nonverbal healing.

These sessions are gently guided and take place in the open spaces of our working farm, where nature holds space for restoration, joy, and discovery.

At 3 Roots we currently have, pigs, chickens and ducks. We will soon have some resident lambs and cows.

Reiki Healing

Subtle energy. Profound peace. A return to balance.

As a Reiki Master, Key offers sessions that are intuitive, compassionate, and grounded in integrity. She creates a safe, sacred space—whether indoors or outdoors—where you are free to release what no longer serves you and reconnect to your natural rhythm.

Clients often come to Reiki for support with:

  • Stress, burnout, and nervous system dysregulation

  • Emotional healing and energetic clearing

  • Anxiety, grief, or inner confusion

  • Restoring a sense of connection to self, body, and spirit

3 Roots also offers reiki with animals; this must be arranged in advance. Please contact us if you are interested in having animals present during your session.
